Great Idea Basement Windows Concrete Well Cover
Glass block windows and concrete well cover are an elegant alternative to traditional windows, and are used in a variety of applications. Contrary to what you may think, glass blocks are no less safe, and in fact they are often safer, than traditional windows. The glass bricks are heavy, constructed of thick glass and, once installed, almost impossible to break with the hand.
Choosing the glass blocks for your basement windows can be a great idea, as long as you keep in mind some limitations and mitigating factors in the first place. Block glass windows can not be opened. The replacement of the basement windows with glass blocks is the equivalent of ventilation bricking on them with cement blocks.
If your basement is unfinished, and subject to flooding or general humidity, glass blocks may not be the best option for you. If you are connected to the aesthetics of the block window, consider replacing the windows only in the front of your house with glass bricks, and keeping the existing basement windows on the sides and back. You can not consider windows in your basement to be viable emergency exits, but your local fire department code can say otherwise. Hoping it was useful for you, see you next time!
